Leon C. Hirsch is the founder of Gorham Enterprises LLC. Gorham is managed by a team with a track record of successful innovation in the MedTech Industry.
Mr. Hirsch was the Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of United States Surgical Corporation. Mr. Hirsch and USSC revolutionized the wound closure market in 1967 with the introduction of Auto Suture* surgical staplers. In 1990, Mr. Hirsch and his team again revolutionized surgery with the introduction of the world’s first automated minimally invasive stapler that launched today’s Laparoscopic market. Under Mr. Hirsch’s leadership, USSC sales grew from $350,000 in 1967, to $1.5 billion in 1998. In 1998, USSC was acquired by Tyco International for $3.3 billion.
In 2003, Mr. Hirsch once more transformed a segment of the healthcare market with the introduction of VIVATONE; an open-fit, receiver-in-the-ear hearing aid system. Mr. Hirsch sold VIVATONE in 2010; the majority of hearing aids sold today use VIVATONE’s technology.
Since 2010, Mr. Hirsch has continued to share his expertise through lectures and consulting. His engagements include grand rounds at John Hopkins and lectures at various teaching hospitals.
